Clarkston Colts holds its 2024 AGM - chairman's update

CLARKSTON Colts held its AGM on Sunday, May, 19, which was attended by parents, players, and other stakeholders at the club.

Here, chairman Gordon Wright provides an update on the meeting and recent developments at the Colts.

Thanks to Clarkston Church for allowing us to meet in its hall.

****

Hi all,

As you may know a message went out a few weeks ago stating that the 2007s were to fold at the end of this season due to the coaches expressing a desire to leave, as well as some of the boys. Subsequently 10 boys have expressed an intertest in continuing with the 07s and we believe it only correct that we look to continue the 07s into next season if possible.

Scott Murphy and Gary McNeil have kindly stepped away from the club with immediate effect in order for us to concentrate on finding a new head coach for the 07s and Jack Haugh has agreed to see out the last two games of the season, which we are extremely grateful for.

We would like to put on record our thanks to ALL the 07 coaches this season for their effort; these guys don’t get paid, don’t have any of their own kids in the team, and turned up week after week to train our children. Clarkston Colts will forever be thankful, wish them well for the future and hope they remain in contact with the club.

We have begun advertising for a new head coach and some new players, and we will keep everyone updated of the club’s position as events unfold.

The Minis will not be affected as Craig Barron and Sam Booth continue to do amazing work with them and it is refreshing to see how they are developing. Again, we are indebted to both of these coaches and thank them for their effort in this and the coming seasons.

Further details of the awards night will be sent out shortly, and we look forward to seeing you all at that event, which is an opportunity to support the club and reward the boys for their effort.

Our Minis continue to go from strength to strength

Finally, let me thank you the parents for your support for the club; the club would not exist without the effort from the boys and the parents who support it, and we are extremely grateful to those who give up their time to help run the club and support their players from the sidelines.

Please look out for further details regarding forthcoming events. Should anyone wish to discuss anything mentioned within this update please feel free to contact any of the committee.

Regards

Gordon Wright

Club chairman
